Now that I'm using something else at home, I have something to compare at work when the subscription comes up for renewal. I started using it at home because I used it at work. I don't know what they'll consider too small to worry about pissing off. Maybe they stop caring about customers with two computers. Because prices doubling on year two is fun to explain to the folks in charge of the budget (No one cares about 50% off, they do care about the 100% increase). Which would be a good time to start looking for alternatives. Or maybe they give existing customers a discount for the first year with new prices. They've been increasing the price there too, and since free became $100 with seven days notice, it is no longer unprecedented that the paying customers might might see a jump in price with no notice (sure you might luck out and buy a year just before the price jump, but you may also have bad luck and your year runs out just before the jump). However, where I work is a paying customer (not a "customer" customer). I could care less that they eliminate their free product when alternative free programs exist. Entitled? No, I just moved on to another free program. Now to hope I don't have to repeat this next week. Can't verify how legit it is, but since most free programs post something similar about free forever (I know Facebook and Hotmail did), I wouldn't doubt it. I like that Teamviewer put up a 'how do I switch from LogMeIn Free to Teamviewer' FAQ: on their site which had about as much info on LogMeIn dropping their free service as LogMeIn's actual site did.Īlso found this pic: when trying to find some more information about this (since LogMeIn decided a handful of sentences was good enough). The 'thanks for using this program in a non-commercial environment' box that pops up on the remote computer after you're done seems a little silly, but isn't a deal breaker. But basic sign into the website, remote to PC, takeover screen, uninstall LogMeIn, and all free. Seems to work well enough, I probably need to play with some settings and figure some stuff out. Just set up Teamviewer on my parent's PC last night.
